We
think these trips are among the most beautiful in the world! The trails
are steep but not dangerous. We ride up on the high mountain
ridges and down into the deep ravines; we usually see wildlife
and even in late summer there are still wild-flowers blooming up that
high! These rides are uniquely tailored to your specific
preferences;
we conduct our rides to satisfy the desires of the guests and this
includes things like the rate of travel. However, there
usually
will be some trotting on the morning rides.
The rides of the Halo Ranch Outfitters start at the ranch
where the hores are saddled. For the mountain rides the
horses are then transported to the different trail heads. The guides
meet the gueststhere and in most cases the ride takes the better part
of the day.

One of the most popular rides is actually on the Halo Ranch; the horses
are not trailered and the rides are conducted on the ranch.
The ride is only about an hour and a half long and it's
mainly in the pastures and along the streams that flow through
the ranch; there are no steep trails, but at some times of the year
there are some creek crossings.
The ranch is a real working ranch, not a tourist
attraction. It's not painted and decorated to look like a fancy,
Hollywood establishment; there are rock piles, old trucks from the
20's, scrap piles of metal , and so on.
Time is spent at the beginning of each ride going over
good, safe, riding practices. Riders who have never ridden
before will feel comfortable on these rides. Dependable, easy-going
horses are used and the rate of travel is casual. This is a
great family style ride and the rates are a bargain.
Advanced reservations are necessary, but they can be made just an hour
or so before the ride.

The most exhilerating of all
of the rides offered by the Halo Ranch Outfitters is on the
Juniper Mountains. The famous St. Anthony Sand Dunes are located
at the base of the mountains and they are a real challenge. No
children allowed on these rides, no rubber soled shoes, and a helmet
might be a good idea. Horses will sometimes stumble and fall and
all must lunge to reach some of the areas we ride in. If
you're not experinced, don't even consider this ride!

For many
years the Angell family produced rodeos
throughout
Idaho, Utah, Montana, Oregon, and Wyoming. During the rodeo producing
era, Curley (grandpa) and Tom (dad) were also active in competition.
Curley, over the years won several state yearly
championships.
Tom was very active in high school and college rodeos; he qualified for
the National Finals five different years and attended college on
rodeo scholarships.

Tom's
four sons are now, or were, active in rodeo competition. Two
of
them attended college on rodeo scholarships and qualified for the
high school and college National Finals several times. One
son, Travis, holds the all-time record for the most Intermountain
